Boral's North American roofing business became part of Westlake following corporate acquisition, and product lines that were sold under the Boral name have been carried forward under Westlake Royal branding.

Practically, if you have an existing tile roof and your paperwork or the tile itself carries a Boral marking, that is not an obsolete or orphaned product. It means checking current equivalents under the Westlake Royal range when sourcing replacements. Bring the old paperwork; it helps.

Concrete and Clay Under One Manufacturer

Where a manufacturer offers both concrete and clay lines, comparing them within one catalog is easier than comparing across two companies, since the profile naming and documentation are consistent.

The material difference remains what it is regardless of brand: clay holds color over decades because the color is fired in, concrete fades with sun exposure, and clay generally costs more. See clay tile roofing.

Underlayment From the Same Manufacturer

Tile manufacturers frequently offer underlayment products alongside the tile, and some warranty programs offer better terms when components come from one manufacturer as a system.

That is worth asking about specifically, because it can change which underlayment makes sense without changing the price much. Ask what the system warranty requires and whether the installer needs a certification to obtain it.

Matching an Older Roof

Where a tile roof was installed under a legacy brand name, matching replacements is usually a question of identifying the profile rather than the brand. Profiles frequently continue across a corporate change even when the name on the box does not.

Photographs of the tile from above and in section, plus any original paperwork, are generally enough for us to identify it. Do that before you need replacements urgently rather than during a repair, since identification takes time that a leak does not give you.
